Contagious Greatness and Blooming Inspiration

"Great Leadership does not create greatness in others, but elicits from them, the greatness that was present all along."  ~John Quincy Adams

One of the greatest things we can do for another is to see them how they want to be seen.  Everyone has an "ideal" version of themselves within - that vision of who we are when we are at our best.  If we can see people as their "ideal" selves, and treat them accordingly, they will rise to that level  of greatness every time!  If we instead, see them and treat them as if they are something less than their greatest self, that too, will they live up to without fail!  Elicit greatness from those around you by seeing greatness when you look at them.

Greatness CAN BE contagious!

As I walked through my yard yesterday, I realized that I was surrounded by glorious, full bloom beauty everywhere I looked!  Everything - the Bradford Pears along the driveway, the Weeping Cherry trees in front, the Plum, Pear and Peach trees in the back - WHAT FANTASTIC BEAUTY WAS ALL AROUND ME!  How had I missed this???  How long had they been blooming?  Had I really been staring into a computer screen THAT long??

I quickly ran inside and grabbed my camera, and spent the following 2 hours absorbed in these delicate, perfect little miracles!  Time stood still, as I forgot the myriad of important, pressing details that needed to be attended to.  The faint ring of the office phone, faded into pale pink.  Every responsibility fell away.  Every pressure - suddenly gone.  I may have spent more than 2 hours out there, because I simply lost all track of time, and even all sensory perception that time was a construct of my reality.  I may have actually BECOME one of those blooms, for all I know, since it seemed as though someone else had been in charge of my body and I became pure consciousness.....totally focused in the present moment of a miracle.

I love those moments when we are so wrapped up in the beauty of the creation, or the smell and taste, or the exquisite notes that linger in the ear, that we completely LOOSE OURSELVES IN THEM.  Those are moments spent well - moments also known as "what it's really all about"....those are moments when our spirits are in charge.  Can you imagine how life would change if we would just allow that to happen more often?

When I finally broke from my wide eyed Spring blossom trance, I was sure I had never spent a better 2 hour period of time in my life!  I knew that was time spent as well as is possible on this planet.  When I went back to work, I walked lighter, thought clearer and had not one moment of regret. I went back to work, with true greatness pouring out of me, (ok, the greatest of the greatness I have to offer during the busy season anyway!).  Everything accomplished from that point forward was that of twice my usual efficiency and half my usual effort.   I had been renewed - refreshed - rejuvenated and INSPIRED!

Here's to hoping that the greatness that is each of us, meets the inspiration that sets it free, and that we might then have the sense to do it again.....and again!  Great things come from focusing on great things.  Look for some today, there's no shortage, and if you get lucky - you will see the contagious greatness everywhere you look!

The pictures below came off my phone, but soon, I'll post the ones from my camera, which I'm sure are the most amazing hi-resolution shots I've ever captured.  They are going to make for some amazing inspirational screen savers for some really great people!
